The Ascent: The Gilman Restoration
The Ascent is a restoration project addressing ecological issues surrounding contamination caused by the former Belden Mine while encouraging economic revitalization through tourism, recreation, education, and historic preservation. The 235-acre site is envisioned as a place for healing, wonder, remembrance, and reinvention, with initiatives to stabilize soils, revive the watershed, restore Aspen forests, and reduce acid mine drainage.
