Santa Cruz Parklets
The City of Santa Cruz’s permanent parklet program was implemented after a temporary parklet ordinance that was available to local businesses during the COVID-19 pandemic. To ensure that this program would continue, solid design guidelines and standards were required to provide pedestrian safety and bring continuity to the city’s streetscapes. The design standards feature a solid framework of corten steel and CMU block safety features that are designed to last. As the City of Santa Cruz prides itself on the right to self-expression, the design standards provide a multitude of customizable finishings that celebrate the business’ individuality, while maintaining continuity with the “bones” of the parklet.
